Tungsten Alloy Penetrator Description

Tungsten penetrator normally means tungsten alloy penetrator which must withstand the shock incurred while punching through armor plating. Penetrators designed for this purpose have a greatly strengthened case with an especially hardened and shaped nose. Tungsten alloy armor-piercing cartridges are used against armored vehicles, concrete bunkers, tanks and other defenses, depending on the caliber of the firearms. This ammunition consists of a penetrator constructed of tungsten alloy or tungsten carbide, enclosed within a softer jacket, such as copper or aluminum. The product ammunition can range from rifle -and pistol- caliber rounds all the way up to tank rounds.

The tungsten heavy alloys are ideal materials for kinetic energy penetrators due to their high densities. Aerospace and defense applications have increasingly utilized tungsten heavy alloy in novel penetrator and warhead designs that can enhance lethality. Military and defense contractors historically used depleted uranium to manufacture armor-piercing penetrators. These components can withstand the shock of impacting hard protective plates and reliably punch through to the safe side.

SSC have over 20 years' experience in provide high performance tungsten heavy alloy (W-Ni-Fe alloys and W-Ni-Cu alloys) tungsten penetrators. We can provide customized tungsten penetrator according to your drawings.
