Platinized Titanium Anode Description
Platinum is an excellent anode material due to its high conductivity and low consumption rate. But as one of the precious metals, platinum is often used by electroplating a thin layer over a high corrosion resistance substrate to reduce the cost. Titanium is one of the materials which have the ability to form an insulating oxide film under anodic conditions, so it is often used as an anode substrate. A platinized titanium anode is simply a titanium anode coated with platinum or platinum metal oxides. Platinized titanium anodes act as inert anodes and are non-consumable & long lasting. These anodes are insoluble in the electrolyte under the conditions present in electrolysis.
The platinum coating is applied by means of high-temperature electrolysis (HTE). The platinum is deposited from a cyanide molten salt bath at temperatures of 500 to 600℃. The functional platinum layer thus produced, shows excellent adhesion in addition to high ductility and maximum purity. It is possible to produce layers with high platinum thickness, maximum corrosion resistance and excellent service life.
Platinum is the most effective metal for any electro chemical process due to its current conducting property. Platinum being the most expensive material rational utilization of Pt for the greater benefit ensures economical solution. Platinized anode is none but a rational utilization of platinum by coating or plating limited quantity on to titanium to achieve the same result as using platinum metal. We offer anode electrodes in rods, sheet, mesh, tube forms from stock.
Possible applications of platinized titanium anode electrodes include Electroplating, Electrowinning, Electro Galvanizing, Electro Floculation, Cathodic Proctection, Water Electrolysis, Electrochlorination, Electrodialysis, Sea Water Chlorination, Sewage Treatment, Chloroalkali Cells - Diaphragm / Mercury / Membrane cells, Chlorate Cells, Hydrogen Cells, Iodate cells, Bromate Cells, Per Chlorate cells, Sodium Chlorate Cells, FUEL Cells.
