Titanium clad nickel is a material composed of titanium and nickel by explosive welding which combines the characteristics of titanium and nickel. Nickel has high electrical and thermal conductivity, good mechanical properties, corrosion resistance and excellent processing performance, while Titanium has high specific strength and excellent corrosion resistance. Titanium clad nickel has high strength, excellent corrosion resistance and good physical properties. It can be used as structural material of chemical equipment and pressure vessels (such as paper making equipment, electrolysis, electroplating equipment, etc.) and ships.
The multilayer composite is a combination of magnetic and non-magnetic materials. It is suitable for polarized neutrons in X-ray field and neutron optics. Therefore, titanium clad nickel is an ideal material for optical components such as super mirror, polarizer and monochromator.
The TiNi phase formed by interface diffusion under the condition of certain heat treatment also has the shape memory effect.
