Molybdenum Disilicide Heating Element Description
MoSi2 heating element is made of molybdenum disilicide and a glaze of silicide dioxide. Molybdenum disilicide is a special material that has the best properties of both ceramic and metal materials. It can resist corrosion and oxidation like ceramic materials and doesn't expand much when heated. Also, it is very good at transferring heat and electricity, just like metals. Thermal shock doesn't harm the part, and it can last a long time because it's strong. It can be used up to 1800°C.
This makes it suitable to be used as a heating element. They come in many different shapes like straight, bent, and multi-shank. SSC makes its MoSi2 heating elements by hot pressing, hot extrusion, and also by pressure-assisted sintering. SSC uses hot isostatic pressing to produces complex shapes, with uniform density and grain structures.
The best grade of MoSi2 heating elements can operate at temperatures of up to 1800°C. But the material is very brittle and can creep from use. SSC makes heating elements that can work at high electric loads without aging. MoSi2 heating elements come ready-made and can be straight, bent, or with many shanks. They come in many different sizes. The elements are used in furnaces in the glass, electronics, steel, ceramics, and heat treatment industries.
W-type heating elements made of molybdenum disilicide are known for being very long-lasting and reliable at high temperatures. A heating rod that looks like a W is usually placed horizontally. Because it makes more heat, it works better and costs less than other heating elements. This heating element has two cold ends and three hot zones. In most cases, the Lu is twice as big as the Le.
