Molybdenum Wire Description

In the early 1900s, molybdenum metal wires were used in incandescent lamps for the first time. Molybdenum was chosen for this application because it is stable at high temperatures. Since that first application, scientists and engineers have discovered that molybdenum has other properties that make it a good choice for many applications. Some of these uses molybdenum's strength and stability at high temperatures. But molybdenum has many other properties that make it attractive for applications outside of high-temperature components, such as:

● High thermal conductivity

● High electrical conductivity

● Low coefficient of thermal expansion

● Resistance to attack by molten metal

● Compatibility with most glass compositions

● Thermal shock resistance

● High stiffness, and

● Strong bonding with glass used in lamps and electronic devices.

Molybdenum wire is divided into white molybdenum wire, black molybdenum wire, sprayed molybdenum wire, molybdenum wire for wire cutting, etc. Molybdenum wire is used to heat high-temperature furnaces and to make support materials.
