Aluminum Zirconate Description

Aluminum zirconate (aluminum zirconium oxide) is a highly insoluble thermally stable Aluminum source suitable for glass, optic and ceramic applications.

Aluminum zirconate is a high fracture toughened ceramic material at room temp due to a dispersion of tetr ZrO2 particles in an alumina matrix. It can be prepared by plasma synthesis from the vapor phase by injecting mixtures of AlCl3 and ZrCl4 vapor in an argon–oxygen plasma, resulting in powder(s) consisting of a mixture of δ-Al2O3 and tetr ZrO2.
