Molybdenum Rod and Bar Description
Molybdenum is a dark metal that melts quickly. Molybdenum rod and bar are very hot, can conduct heat well, and don't expand much when heated up.
Mo powder is usually produced by powder metallurgy techniques in which it is hydrostratically compacted and sintered at about 2100°C. Hot work is done between 870-1260°C. Moly turns into a gas when it's heated up to about 600 degrees Celsius. This means that it can only be used in places that don't oxidize or where there is no air.
Moly alloys are strong and stable at high temperatures. Ceramics can handle imperfections and fractures better because they are flexible and tough.
