Superconducting Niobium Rod and Sheet Description
The superconducting Radio Frequency (RF) cavities used in the free electron lasers are made from high purity niobium with high Residual Resistivity Ratio (RRR). Niobium superconducting Residual Resistivity Ratio (RRR) is defined as the ratio of niobium superconducting resistivity and low temperature superconducting niobium resistivity under room temperature. With the increase of material's purity and decrease of interior stress, RRR value is reduced. RRR value can be used to measure purity of the metal. SSC can produce niobium products based on the RRR value customer required. RRR niobium is usually manufactured in shape of rod and sheet. Products in ingot and tube are also available by request.
In addition, niobium titanium alloys are used as a type II superconductor materials for superconducting magnets. Applications of these superconducting magnets include magnetic resonance imaging and nuclear magnetic resonance instruments, and in particle accelerators. The alloys are generally available with 47%, 50%, and 55% titanium. Please contact us for more details.
