Chromium(III) chloride hexahydrate is a dark green crystalline powder. It is a suitable raw material for various chromium-containing catalysts. It can also be used as a mordant, chromium-containing additive, and chromium reagent for trivalent chromium electroplating. It can also be used as a raw material for the production of other chromium salts and the manufacture of chromium-containing pigments.
